Devon Days

What do you like to do on holiday? There’s something for everyone to enjoy from
Mincombe Barn.

If chilling out at the beach is your thing, we’ve got plenty to choose from.
Stroll along the Regency promenade at Sidmouth, or head to the clear water at
Branscombe, tucked away under dramatic red cliffs that glow in the setting sun.
We can tell you about other less well known beaches where you can escape the crowds even at the busiest time of year.

Take a hike! We’re lucky to be situated right on the East Devon Way, a
network of footpaths that will take you through some of the county’s most
spectacular scenery. Just head out from the garden and up the valley, and you’
ll emerge high on the hills where amazing views await you. We like the scenery
best in spring and autumn- when the woods are filled with bluebells,
or the falling leaves crunch under your feet.

From dinosaurs to crinolines- if you’re interested in exploring the past, you’ll be spoilt for choice here. There are fossil-filled museums and Tudor
palaces, National Trust gems and little-known stately homes. At the heart of Devon is historic Exeter, with its Roman walls and great Cathedral- and
secret passages under the modern shops.

We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful area of England. We are set within
the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a UNESCO world heritage site,
with the Blackdown Hills AONB just to the north. If you love wildlife, we are within easy reach of the coastal RSPB reserves, where rare wading birds wander the
marshes. A little further afield is Dartmoor, where the great stone tors
soar above hilltops covered in heather, grazed by wild ponies.
